In this 3-hour class, you’ll create a softcover book from start to finish. We’ll begin by sewing our text blocks, then explore how to create a sturdy paper cover to protect the pages within.
This binding can be made at home with minimal tools, making it an accessible and versatile option for notebooks, sketchbooks, and artist books. If you’ve tried simple pamphlet stitching before and want to take your bookbinding practice a step further, this is a great next step. No prior experience is necessary, and beginners are very welcome.
Materials are provided. I use thoughtfully selected, high-quality papers chosen for their durability and longevity, so your handmade book is made to be used, revisited, and kept. You’re also welcome to bring your own tools if you have them:
